Building a 90-Day Content Engine to Attract Clients

January 08, 2026•4 min read

A 90-day content engine is a simple plan that turns a few core topics into a steady stream of content that attracts and converts your ideal clients. You set one business goal for the quarter, choose three content pillars, create in batches, publish on a set rhythm, and connect every piece to a clear next step. Then you review the numbers and improve the next 90 days.

Ninety days is long enough to see results and short enough to stay focused. Here's how to build yours.

Why plan content 90 days at a time?

Because random posting doesn't build anything.

When you decide what to post each morning, every piece starts from zero. There's no thread connecting your content, so your audience never sees the full picture of what you do or why it matters.

A 90-day plan gives your content a direction. Each piece builds on the last, and together they lead people toward working with you.

Step 1: What is the goal for this quarter?

Pick one. Not five.

  • Grow your email list
  • Fill a program, workshop, or event
  • Book more discovery calls
  • Build authority on a new topic

Your goal decides everything else: your topics, your calls to action, and the numbers you'll track.

Step 2: Who is the content for?

Write a short description of your ideal client. What do they want? What's in their way? What have they already tried? What words do they use to describe the problem?

Pull this from real conversations. Review notes from discovery calls, client emails, and comments. The exact phrases your clients use make the best headlines.

Step 3: What are your content pillars?

Choose three topics that connect your audience's problems to your offer. For a business coach, that might be:

  1. Getting clients
  2. Building systems
  3. Leading with confidence

Every piece of content for the next 90 days should fit under one of these. That focus helps people, search engines, and AI tools understand what you're known for.

Step 4: What will you create?

Build around one anchor piece each week or every two weeks, then repurpose it.

  • Anchor: a blog post, video, podcast episode, or live session that goes deep on one question.
  • Short posts: three to five social posts pulled from the anchor.
  • Email: one weekly email that shares the main idea and links to the anchor.
  • Clips: short videos cut from the anchor if it's recorded.

AI tools make this fast. Give ChatGPT or Claude your anchor and ask for posts, an email, and clip ideas. Then edit everything so it sounds like you.

Step 5: How do I map the 90 days?

Use a simple three-phase arc:

  • Weeks 1 to 4: Teach. Answer the biggest questions your audience has. Build trust and attention.
  • Weeks 5 to 8: Prove. Share your method, client results you have permission to share, and behind-the-scenes looks at how you work.
  • Weeks 9 to 12: Invite. Keep giving value, and add clear invitations to your offer, event, or call.
  • Week 13: Review. Look at what worked and plan the next quarter.

Notice that most of the quarter is giving. The invitation lands because you've earned it.

Step 6: How do I keep it running without burning out?

  • Batch creation. Record or write a month of anchors in one or two focused sessions.
  • Schedule everything. Load posts and emails into your scheduler and CRM ahead of time.
  • Delegate the distribution. Your team can format, schedule, and repurpose. You create the ideas and approve the final pieces.
  • Keep a backlog. Save extra ideas so a busy week never stops the engine.

Step 7: What should I measure?

Track the numbers tied to your goal, not just likes:

  • Email sign-ups from each piece of content
  • Clicks to your offer or booking page
  • Calls booked and clients won
  • Which pillar and which format brought the most leads

At the end of the quarter, double down on what converted and cut what didn't.

FAQ

How much content do I need for 90 days?

Six to twelve anchor pieces, repurposed into posts and emails, is plenty for most coaches and consultants. Quality and consistency matter more than volume.

What if I fall behind?

Pull from your backlog or repurpose an older piece that performed well. The engine keeps running as long as you don't stop completely.

Can I reuse my 90-day plan?

Yes. Keep the structure, refresh the topics based on what you learned, and update examples. Your best-performing pieces can often be updated and shared again.

Content doesn't have to be a daily scramble. Build the engine once, run it for 90 days, learn from it, and make the next quarter even stronger.
